3-Step Process To Replacing Shoe Top In A Sliding Shoe Sorter
Sorting conveyors are a specialized type of conveyor used in numerous applications. The main purpose is to sort products into different categories. One popular variety is the sliding shoe sorter. It diverts products into a different conveyor or collection system using a shoe-like apparatus. Hytrol’s ProSort sliding shoe sorted is a great example of the same. However, it can also face some wear and tear over time, especially the shoe top. This blog offers a 3-step process to replacing the shoe top with ease.
Replacing A Sliding Shoe Sorter
1. Remove Shear Pins From The Shoe Base
After following the classic lock-out tag-out procedure, carefully remove the shear pins from the shoe base using a flathead screwdriver. Pry the screwdriver into the shoe base and remove the pins via the top hole.
2. Place The New Shoe Top
The next step is to place the new shoe top over the shoe base. Make sure that the shoe top is facing the right direction. Next, make sure that the hole of the shoe top is perfectly aligned to the hole of the shoe base.
3. Place The Shear Pin In The Shoe Top
Now, place the new shear pin in the shoe top, ensuring that the flat end of the pin fits the shoe properly. Finally, use the flathead screwdriver to push the shear pin through both holes. Align the screwdriver to the center of the shear pin and give it a firm push. The shear pin should fit in place.
Once the shoe top has been successfully installed, the conveyor machine is ready to be operated without a hitch.
